Our mission at Shay Financial Services, Inc. is helping you build a more profitable balance sheet. The Portfolio Strategies Group ("PSG") at Shay is responsible for assisting our clients in this formidable challenge. From interest rate risk analysis to leverage growth strategies, PSG provides institutions a broad range of services to assist them in the creation and execution of integrated and successful balance sheet strategies. Utilizing sophisticated analytical tools, PSG provides numerous services, including: Financial Ratio Analysis A detailed analysis that examines an institution's financial ratios relative to its peers and "top performing" institutions. After careful review, specific opportunities and strategies for improving the institutions profitability are assessed. Balance Sheet Asset Allocation Analysis A comprehensive analysis of an institutions balance sheet, incorporating our singular perspective that segregates assets by function, rather than accounting classification. This analysis identifies areas of concentrated risk and opportunities for improving the balance sheet's risk/return profile. The analysis also drills down within each broad asset class to look at the diversification of assets within each class. Capital Optimization Plan (COP) Derived from the Asset Allocation Analysis, the COP examines an institution's existing capital structure and assists in the developement of strategies to utilize any unallocated capital to increase profitability and overall franchise value. Investment Policies & Plans PSG helps financial institutions develop and/or modify their investment policies and plans to ensure that both are consistent with the institution's specific goals, opportunities and risk tolerances and meet all regulatory guidelines. Investment Strategies PSG's investment professionals help financial institution managers create and execute investment strategies that seek to provide optimal performance and are cocsistent with the institution's business plan and its unique opportunities and risks. Security-Specific Analysis A comprehensive pre-purchase analysisdesigned spefically for regulated financial institutions to assist in the analysisof complex investment securities. This analysis is designed to examine an asset's performance in multiple interest rate scenarios, in both parallel and non-parallel yield curve shifts, and provides a quantifiable metric, the asset's expected total rate of return, for evaluating the asset'sutility relative to other investment alternatives. Spread Manager In addition to assessing a bond based on its traditional metrics (yield, duration, convexity, etc.), Shay has developed a powerful analytical tool, designed specifically for financial institutions, to evaluate bonds the same way that they evaluate loans - in terms of Spread. Spread Manager assess a bond's performance relative to its funding source, illustrating the bond's expected "spread contribution" in changing interest-rate scenarios. Consequently, Spread Manager enables a financial manager to examine a bond in the most meaningful way - based on its potential impact to the bottom line. In short, Spread Manager makes the bond selection process easier and more tangible. Interest Rate Risk Analysis/Reporting Shay uses Risk Analytics' Interest Rate Risk Management Model and its Balance Sheet Manager to assist financial institutions in managing and monitoring their interest rate risk. This modeling system provides present value calculations and income projections in multiple interest rate scenarios and satifies all applicable regulatory requirements. Additionally, using the Balance Sheet Manager, PSG's specialists can provide an institution with an instantaneous measurement of the impact that a particular asset purchase/sale of funding decision will have on the balance sheet and income. Performance Monitoring Anaysis/Reporting PSG offers monthly P/L reporting for all clients engaged in Wholesale Growth Programs. This report details each underlying transaction's ongoing profitability and the aggregate Program's profitabilty, providing a mechanism for managing and monitoring the Program as market conditions change.
